The establishment of OPET began in 1982 when Fikret Öztürk, who is currently the Chairman of the Board, transitioned from teaching to commercial life. Fikret Öztürk founded Öztürkler Limited Company in Mersin, focusing on lubricants and fuel. Together with his wife, Nurten Öztürk, they rapidly expanded Öztürkler Limited, acquiring dealerships for numerous lubricant and fuel brands. Within ten years, the company became the largest distributor of fuel and lubricants for international fuel distribution companies operating in Turkey and owned and operated 16 fuel stations.
In 1992, the Öztürk couple moved to Istanbul and decided to establish a fuel distribution company in the same year. Thus, Öztürkler Petrol was renamed OPET and began opening stations in many provinces of Turkey, starting from Anatolia.
Today, OPET Petrolcülük A.Ş. continues its rapid growth with the same determination, operating in retail sales, commercial and industrial fuels, lubricants, storage, and international trade. At the end of 2002, OPET, which had a 50% partnership with Koç Holding Energy Group, has prioritized infrastructure investments since its establishment. OPET’s storage capacity, which provides a significant competitive advantage, exceeds 1 million cubic meters.
Increasing its market share and station network daily, OPET operates with the primary goal and principle of being the first choice of consumers in the fuel distribution sector in Turkey, thanks to the synergy and partnership strength derived from the Koç Group partnership.
With its strong infrastructure, realistic vision, and belief in the country, OPET has become the fastest and most consistently growing oil company in the last decade.
OPET, one of Turkey’s largest fuel distributor companies, has over 1800 stations under the OPET and SUNPET brands.
